We also had another small issue arise that was not there when we bought the house :(
In between the time we bought and the settlement Rowville was the epicentre of the largest hailstorm Melbourne had seen for over 100 years and there was lots of damage to houses and cars and the house we bought was no exception.
The good news is that the damage was confined to a small area outside and was fixed well. The not so good news is our neighbours pergola was badly damaged and had to be pulled down. This allowed them a view straight into our living area and a full view of our outdoor area.
This was the view when we bought:
On the left side of the picture you can see there is a jasmine (???) plant that is growing all over a pergola which has completely blocked the neighbours out. To the right of that there is a wooden frame with lattice on it with plants attached to it. At the very end is the 'v' shaped area that is being used as bin storage.
As you can see in the next photo the view through to the neighbours was quite a bit different when we moved in!
This is what the house looks like from up above at the moment:
And this is the plan we have for the area:
I have spoken with our new neighbours and they have agreed to allow us to build right up to the fence (well 150mm off to allow for guttering) and they are also happy for us to build a blueboard wall along the length of the fence for privacy.
This is going to be huge!!
