I am feeling illuminated...

Queue the electrician ... and go!

The first order of the day was to get the light in the walk in pantry to come on when the door opens.  In my previous house we did that with the help of a switch on the door.  The down side to the switch on teh door was that we had 2 doors and this was the same issue we faced here.

Enter the PIR (passive infrared sensor).  This little sensor, the same as the big ones like in your alarm, activates when it detects motion turning the light on for a pre determined amount of time.

Open the door, lights goes on ... too easy!

The next item on the checklist was to put the lights in the outdoor area.

We started with the pendant lights

And then with a heap of 12 volt downlights in the eaves

And some lights in the eaves for the garden shed.

And finally a selection of PIR's around the house to turn on lights when people walk past.

We also had a heap of powerpoints installed and some preparatory work done for other items down the track (like fans etc)

Oh and dont forget the outside lights!
