All Aspex - of the pergola...

Today is the big day ... we are starting the pergola / shed build.

I have an awesome tradesman and his young apprentice building this for me.  These tradesmen and so good at what they do it is a crime ... they are the best at everything they do!

Everyone should get them to do their work at their house

(...is that enough Pete?? no??  OK here is a pic ... no more!)

Seriosuly though ... Peter is my Brother in law and Dylan is my Nephew and their work is top notch (anyone who knows me, knows that I dont settle for anything).  Pete has a company called All Aspex Constructions and they specialise in pergolas, decking and renovations.

After some lengthy discussion over alcohol and food we decided to remove the existing lattice wall and start all over again.

We started with a clean slate (except for the plants that we left in to see if they would live) and first step was to build the frame for the roofing to sit on:

The roof starting to go up

The slab now cured and ready to become the base for my shed

Looking back into the backyard from the shed

All the rafters now in place over the shed

Getting the last few rafters in place at the end of day 1

End of day 1 - Rafters and fascia boards up, battens on and ready for posts

At the end of day 1 we got a heap of work done.  Tomorrow brings the posts and the frames for all the blueboard.

This is looking exactly like I had pictured...

:)
