The downstairs bathroom...

Once upon a 20 years ago in a town about 30 kilometres from Melbourne's CBD there was a house built that had stylish bathroom fittings and a layout that looked good and colours that were suited to the era...

Fast forward 20 years and....

BLEHHHHHHHHHHHH

I know that when this was built it was a good look but in todays age it is yuck and old and not to mention all those years of grime and build up of dirt.

No matter how much time was spent scrubbing this was just not going to get clean.

What's the answer?

New...

Here are some before shots:

Nice huh?
the 4 foot bath...

No shelves under the sink...

Mmmm ... mould....

...more mould...

...more mould you cant reach...

We have decided to go with a complete rip and renew.

We are going to use some neutrals tones with whites for contrast.

For both speed and efficiency we have decided to do minimal changes in the bathroom layout.  There are some small things like moving taps etc that need to be done but the shower, bath and vanity will remain in their current positions.

We have chosen to use 600 x 300mm porcelain tiles.

The red star is the tile we have chosen
Tomorrow we begin the rip out journey...

Yay!

  1. How could you even consider ripping those lovely fittings and tiles out, Matt? ;)

Here's a scary thought: it's slightly nicer than our old bathroom. I remember being disappointed that we could only get a white bath and basin when we built the place (the builder charged extra for pretty colours). LOL.
